- [S143] "Janell Standley," e-mail to Kathy Decker, ....my great-grandma was Lucy (Gallion) Wilburn. Her father according to a family history I received from family members in Texarkana, Arkansas was Marcus Gallion.
My great-grandma was born in Maryville, Tennessee March 20, my mother had a family sheet she wrote March 20, 1873. I found her on the census being born 1880. She married my great-grandpa Edwin Hall Wilburn, Sept.22,1895. They started out from Tenn in a covered wagon, sold their wagon in Avery Tenn, took the train to Anna, Texas where my great-grandpa's sister Laura (Wilburn) Brawner lived, and then ended up in Texarkana, Arkansas. Lucy and Ed had a son named Marcus. I found on the internet his obituary, he was also born Maryville, Tennessee August 12, 1898 and died June 18, 1947. It stated he was survived by his mother, Mrs. Edd Wilburn, brother Joe Wilburn, nine uncles, Lee, Marcus, Joe, Bob, Larry, Bill, L, and M.P. Wilburn, and F.D. Gaylon, three aunts, Mrs. Della (Wilburn) Shufflin, Miss Clara Gaylon and Miss Jessie Galyon. So when I saw your family tree Rootsweb.com I had to try to e-mail you. I have a picture of Marcus Galyean that my aunt Lillian gave me, it stated he was blind and there are two young men in the picture.
My g-grandma lived with her son Joe after g-grandpa died and his place burned and everything was lost. I have tried to get my g-grandma's death certificate from Arkansas but they sent me a death certificate for a Lucy Wilburn but she was only 6 hours old. Hardly think that's my g-grandma. Ha. I have also been to Rondo Cemetary where some of the Wilburn's are buried and my grandparents James Marshall Willard and Jennie Mae (Wilburn) Willard also are buried there. This is in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Now on one of mama's family sheets she had Lucy Gallion Langford Wilburn. so when I saw Margaret Langford and Marcus Galyean I thought she had married a Langford but I'm not sure mama just put her mother's maiden name on it. So now you know my mystery. My g-grandma has a headstone at Rondo Cemetary next to Eedd as they spelled his name. She has a birthdate March 20, 1873 but no death date. The people who take care of the cemetary can't find a death date on her either. The lady who is helping me is named Pat Wolf. I talked with her father-in-law one day and he said he has family from Tennessee with the Galyean name also. - [S101] 1910 Federal Census, GARLAND TWP, MILLER, Arkansas
