'KITTS, HERBERT LEE- age 87, of East Knoxville, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2001, at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital. An Elder, Deacon and Trustee of Thorn grove Christian Church, retired Driver and Dispatcher with K-Trans, 32nd Degree Mason, member of Burlington Lodge, and was a Scottish Rite Mason. Preceded in death by son, Allen T. Kitts. Survivors: wife of 65 years, Margaret V. Kitts; daughter and son-in-law Sarah Jo and David Scruggs; daughter-in-law Dovie Kitts; sister Margaret Etherton; grandchildren Terry Lea and Sammy Rivera, Amy and Jeff Stapleton, and Sharea Scruggs; great grandchildren Aaron, Victoria and Samantha. Family and friends will meet at the main entrance to Greenwood Cemetery at 11:15 am Wednesday for grave side services at 11:30 am with Robert Adcock officiating.

     Roger Heath Swisher was born on 23 June 1904 at Missouri, USA. He married Emma Estelle Maples, daughter of Curtis Clinton Maples and Flora Elmina Smith, on 24 June 1948 at Prescott, Yavapai, Arizona. Roger Heath Swisher died on 17 December 1957 at Veteran's Admin. Hosp., San Bernadino, San Bernadino, California, at age 53; squamous cell carcinoma of hypopharynx w/ cervical metastases / Cancer. He was buried after 17 December 1957 at Harbor Rest Memorial Park, Santa Anna, Orange, California.
     He was (an unknown value) at Chrysler/ paint inspector. He began military service at WWII. He Roger was kidnapped as a child and later found in the dessert. He had a big scar on his chest that he refused to talk about (relating to kidnapping)

I remember 'Grandpa Tootsie-roll', as we called him, because he always brought us girls tootsie-rolls when they came to visit. He always seemed to have an endless supply of them. He appeared on the census of 1920 at ED#101, Long Beach, Los Angeles, California.
