Born and raised in Auburn on February 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mary Kenny Burns. Julia is survived by her loving husband, Robert T. McConnell Sr., of Owasco. On June 11, they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Julia is also survived by three daughters, Deborah Baird, Lori (Jamie) Ciaccio and Sandra (Dominick) Feocco; and three sons, Robert T. McConnell Jr., Richard (Rhonda) McConnell Sr. and Kevin (Melissa) McConnell Sr. She was affectionately known as "Grammy" to 12 grandchildren, Bernard (Bunk) Baird IV, Courtney Baird, Mitchell and Mark Feocco, Stephen and Christiana Ciaccio, and Meghan, Richard Jr., Laura, Lucas, Madeline and Kevin (Patrick) McConnell Jr. A sister, Ellen Bacon, of Holiday, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Pat Burns; several brother and sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a close friend, Sue Baird, also survive Julia. Julia was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Stephen and James J. Burns; her sisters, Mary and Katherine Burns, and Josephine Burtless; son-in-law, Bernard Baird III; brother-in-laws Patrick and William McConnell; sister-in-law, Adrienne Fennessy; and mother and father-in-law, Joseph Sr. and Edna McConnell. Julie attended Central High School and worked as a NA at Mercy Hospital, and the Auburn Nursing Home until retiring to raise her family. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed the many years spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved vacationing in New Jersey, Las Vegas, North and South Carolina, and upstate New York. Julie will be remembered fondly for her great sense of humor, incredible strength and pride in her family. She showed tremendous courage in facing her physical challenges over the last several years. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 9, 2009, in Holy Family Church, Auburn. Julia will be laid to rest in St. Joseph"s Cemetery, Fleming. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Heieck-Pelc Funeral Home, 42 E. Genesee St., Auburn. Family request in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to the Owasco Fire Department Company #2, 4881 Twelve Corners Road, Auburn, NY 13021 in memory of Mrs. McConnel.

He is survived by three daughters, Jean Burtless of Liverpool, Joan (Allen) Lepak of Aurelius and Rose (Robert Tucker) Burtless of Auburn; three sons, John Burtless of Aurelius, Carl Burtless of Auburn and Jim Burtless of Liverpool; a sister, Gertrude Widrick of Mass.; seven grandchildren, Mark, Kim and Kevin Lepak; Stephen and Stacy Morehouse, Tracy and John Burtless; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Burtless; a sister, Marguerite Burtless and a daughter-in-law, Lois Burtless Visiting hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at Langham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph"s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aurelius Fire Department, in memory of Mr. Burtless.
