Otto may NOT have married both wives, as they appear to be two differentalternative wives with different ancestry. But I followed the Hadwig vonBabenberg line from Bernd Josef Jansen, World Connect db=bernd-jansen, soI am making her the 1st wife, and Hedwig of Germany as the 2nd wife.

Note: Peter Stewart, in criticizing the accuracy of Stuart's 'Royal forCommoners' points out that RFC names him Otto of Erlauchten (as if it isa place), whereas his name is Otto I 'der Erlauchte' (German for'Illustrious').

     Ludolph Duke of Saxony was born circa 816 at Saxony, Germany.¹ He was the son of Bruno Duke of East Saxony and Oda (?). Ludolph Duke of Saxony married Oda Billung, daughter of Billung of Saxony and Aeda of Franks, circa 835. Ludolph Duke of Saxony died between 12 March 865 and 866.²

     Bruno Duke of East Saxony was born circa 791 at Saxony, Germany. He was the son of Wigbert Duke of Saxony and Ordrad (?). Bruno Duke of East Saxony died in 843 at Saxony, Germany.¹

     Berenger of Friuli was born circa 755 at Friuli, Italy.

     Mathilda of Ringleheim was born circa 890 at Ringleheim, Goslar, Hannover, Germany.² She was the daughter of Theodoric I Count of Ringleheim and Ludmilla (Ragnhildis) von Friesland. Mathilda of Ringleheim married Henry I 'The Fowler' Saxony Holy Roman Emperor, son of Otto 'the Illustrious' Duke of Saxony and Hadwig von Babenberg, in 909.² Mathilda of Ringleheim died between 14 March 967 and 968 at Membleben, Saxony, Germany.²

     Theodoric I Count of Ringleheim was born in 853 at Ringleheim, Goslar, Hannover, Germany. He was the son of Immed Count of Saxony and Mathilda of Saxony. Theodoric I Count of Ringleheim died between 8 February 916 and 917.¹

     Ludmilla (Ragnhildis) von Friesland was born circa 863 at Friesland, Niedersachsen, Germany. She was the daughter of Godefrid King of Haithabu & Rustringen and Maud (Matilda) (?). Ludmilla (Ragnhildis) von Friesland died in 917.¹
     She Alan Wilson stated that Ludmilla was a daughter of Godefrid by Gisela ofLorraine, but I believe that she was daughter by his 1st wife Matilda.

     Hugues III Count of Upper Alsace was born in 765 at Upper, Alsace, France. He was the son of Luitfride II Count of Upper Alsace and Hiltrude (?). Hugues III Count of Upper Alsace died circa 839 at Tours, Indre-et-Loire, Touraine/Centre, France.¹

     Luitfride II Count of Upper Alsace was born in 740 at Alsace, Lorraine, France. He was the son of Luitfride I Duke of Alsace and Edith (?). Luitfride II Count of Upper Alsace married Hiltrude (?) in 764. Luitfride II Count of Upper Alsace died in 780.¹

     Luitfride I Duke of Alsace was born circa 707 at Alsace, Lorraine, France. He was the son of Adalbert I Duke of Alsace and Gerlinde de Aquitaine. Luitfride I Duke of Alsace died circa 750.¹

     Adalbert I Duke of Alsace was born circa 675 at Alsace, Lorraine, France. He was the son of Adalric (EthicEticho) I Duke of Alsace and Berswinde of France. Adalbert I Duke of Alsace died in 720 at France.¹
